CONTEXT
Brent Crude is the primary benchmark for Atlantic basin and global oil pricing.
Strait of Hormuz transits ~21% of global petroleum liquids (~21 million bbl/day).
Gulf producers (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar) ship most exports through Hormuz.

Key levels:
2019 pre-crisis avg: ~$65/bbl
2020 COVID crash: $25/bbl (April 2020)
2022 Ukraine peak: $114/bbl (June 2022)
2024 range: $73-88/bbl
Current Hormuz crisis: $105+/bbl and rising

Disruption scenarios: partial blockade → $120-140/bbl; full closure → $150-200+/bbl.
Strategic reserves (IEA members): ~1.2 billion barrels — covers ~90 days of net imports.
